We practice rotational grazing so our beef cows move to fresh grass regularly, improving the soil as they go. Their diet is primarily grass but they're supplemented with a small amount of grain so our beef has a more mild flavor than 100% grass-fed.
Four Harvest brings the farm to you. Two small family farms, Spring Hill Family Farm and Havin Hills Rolling Acres, joined forces to make it easier for customers to get pasture-raised meat directly from farmers. Together we raise beef, pork, chicken, and turkey all on pasture. We found Spring Hill Heritage farm on a face book site. Many many years had gone by since we had eaten fried farm raised chicken for a Sunday dinner. After meeting the farmers and seeing the healthy way the chickens were raised we were excited to get home and do a taste test. Delicious!!! You will not find store bought factory raised chicken with this wonderfully satisfying taste. We also are able to buy our favorite parts without buying the whole chicken. With two in the family that is a bonus. This is customer friendly farm that raises their animals with care!!!
I started with purchasing some chicken then purchased 1/2 a pig. The pork was fabulous. Great flavor. The butcher shop Heritage Farm uses do a great job processing your meat to your specifications. We ordered another pig so my brother and his wife from Minnesota decided to get a half as well because we liked it so well. We stopped at the farm to pick up chicken recently and it was so nice to talk to Marissa and see the chickens and peacocks run around. It’s nice to actually know the farmer where you purchase meat. It’s pretty cool that this farm has been in their family for years. Pasture raised and local. Couldn’t ask for more!
Springhill Heritage Farm warms my heart, spirit, and belly with their kind, sustainable, and appreciative farming practices. I hesitate only for the briefest moment to recommend their pork Brats because it may create a scarcity, but something THIS GOOD must be shared. Also, I just picked up my order so I have a couple of weeks to wait-out the mad rush 😉 The Brats have been described within our family as ‘spectacular,’ ‘best I’ve ever eaten,’ and ‘for Pete’s sake don’t tell anyone else!’. Grab a couple dozen eggs when they are available. Truly superior to any other - ever. The bacon - more of a sensory experience than this former vegetarian will publicly admit. In short summary: amazing. The humans are wonderful. The animals happy, content, and well cared for. The results - undeniably stellar.
